Thanks Tymen, Anthony - that helps a lot. It is indeed - domain.com/post-title (no category in url) so I am safe to clean up the site without repercussions. Better to learn this lesson now than down the line. Cheers!

Hi,
I have belatedly come to the conclusion that I have been using tags and categories when blogging in wordpress incorrectly. The result is that Google seems to prefer to show my archives and tags in search results rather than the post itself. Not good UX.
As the site is only a few months old, am I best to learn my lesson and tag and categorize correctly moving forward
or
Should I go back in to these posts and clean them up & categorize and tag correctly. If I do this, will it cause 404s and hurt my SEO?

I think I may possible have answered my own question. I rebuilt the site recently, added SRL cert and moved it over to a https: instead of http:
Apparently Google sees this as a completely different domain which I never knew. I have added this to my google search console. It has acknowledged it but is still not allowing me see my back links through search console (no data). It is still also strange that all of these tools like ahrefs are showing the back links for older links to http but not the most recent back links for https:

I would really appreciate some wisdom. I have scoured the internet and tried everything but with no joy. I run a custom song-writing business in Australia. I have about 8 high quality backlinks to my site that just do not show in MOZ, Ahrefs or any other tool. They are all do follow. They vary in time from 2 years ago to 2 weeks ago. They are all relevant in-body links. Examples: National News, Wedding Website & a guest blog about Gift Ideas

Considering how niche my market is, this google juice means a lot. I would really appreciate any words of advice.
