Right now rel=publisher is being emphasised when it comes to Google+ Direct Connect - where a Google+ profile overview badge is displayed in the search results for a brand. It's a pretty cool addition to your search results, but right now it's handed out algorithmically. You can't just declare ownership and see it there, so you'll need to build up a bit of authority before it appears.

I wish I had..we have been hit pretty hard as well, lost rankings for 70% of all keywords targeting the Homepage, with all types of anchor text. I would say, if you can do something about those bad links, do it; that shouldn't hurt you but,  I would start building a few strong links as soon as possible too. Going forward, it seems very clear to me that paid links and more than 30 to 40% exact anchor text backlinks will not influence rankings anymore. As far as I can see, there is no real recovery story after this update. If the rankings are where they used to be, proceed with caution, keep building valuable links and keep an eye on your Google Analytics. Good luck and keep us posted.

Hi John, No it's very far from a text spinner it's a fantastic way to get fresh relevant content onto the site and know that the words will relate to each other and work with new Google's algorithm as well. Hi Andy Yes, hear you loud and clear. I think actually treating everything on the two websites as different entities is the way to go, different url extensions  subtle changes to headings etc,  and try our best to mix content up, even if we need to add to it (although I will be braking my Golden rule of not creating content for clients websites, my real pet hate at web development stage.)
