Another approach is to guesstimate the traffic. There are tools out there calculating a visibilty ranking by pulling ranks for large sets of keywords and giving domains a point value by combining their rankings with the search volume. The result is a somewhat standardized measurement for all the keywords a domain is rnaking for. Being no.1 for iphone brings more points than being no.10 for oven etc. One tool is sichtbarkeitsindex.de . AFAIK recall 1 point is roughly 10.000 organic visits per month (not absolutelly  sure about the number though...)
