Duplicate Domain Listings Gone?
Interesting, thanks for your insight as always EGOL. Upon further research I have found a few double listings but they have been for specific software and the double listings are of the developer's domain. So that makes sense to me. Either way it seems the algo is making exceptions for certain domains depending on keyword and their authority to the actual search term.

What is Happening to Me?!
Good to hear. Does lend support to the trend that GWT link data can be slow to update and in this case even go off the rails.

Recommend me a Web Hosting Provider
Hi Jesse, I wanted to update this for 2 reasons the 1st one is for host is going to have a data center in Toronto. I hope you have had good luck with your choice. The other thing I wanted to tell you is after reading this a 2nd time you seem to care quite a bit about data centers in Canada while I did not believe it is as much a factor to each their own. A extremely high uptime host is http://iweb.com/cloud/servers http://iweb.com/ they have the 2nd highest amount of data centers in Canada and are only in Canada. With better uptime than Peer 1. However I do not believe they are better hosting company and firehost when you use a content delivery network it creates a point of presence the fact that there are points of presence in every major city in Canada using edge cast will give you the same effect as a data center. However I did want to update you. I would still stay with fire host if you have chosen them. Regardless if you do want Canada firehost will have a data set or their in January after that I would go iWeb or Peer 1 however I'm hoping all of your issues of been taken care of by now. Respectfully, Thomas

Tumblr Spam
You want to be careful about duplicate content doing that. Your site's going to be easier to control the meta tags and such. If you're going for just bigger audience exposure, more stuff to share, etc., you might consider deindexing those posts. I'd suggest reading Dr. Pete's post on duplicate content post-Panda. On the other hand, Tumblr's notoriously bad at SEO without major tweaks so it might be worth looking into where you're ranking (or if you are) for your Tumblr and then going from there.

Please Settle a Bounce Rate Debate
Nevermind it totally worked. I just tested it out on a dummy page and it tracked the event. Thank you all incredibly much for all the help. This is fantastic and is going to make me look like a rock-star.

Web Designer Needed
Good ideas Charles, thank you! I've been playing with Twitter's Bootstrap for a few hours now and I almost feel like that's a viable solution. It's so clean... but it forces me to learn even more HTML/CSS than I planned to. I'd much rather get a designer involved... my CEO is being a stickler on the finances of this for some reason. Our company is entirely web-based... it's our storefront. Why wouldn't you want to spend money on the face of your company, you know? Anyway... thanks

I need a new book
Sorry to revive a long dead post but a good book never goes away. I suggest reading something outside of the marketing community that will help with understand people more and so get the creative juices flowing for new marketing ideas. Try David McRaney "You are not so smart" or anything by Robert B. Cialdini.

Removing Poison Links w/o Disavow
Those are great suggestions Lynn, thank you. I read the article about direct traffic and it made me feel a little better... My theory at this point is even if there are people out there bookmarking this URL (still not sure why they would and the % of new visitors is quite high on the direct source) they will find their way to the new one. I do have a custom 404 page that is super helpful and should easily get people to their destination should they happen upon our old URL. It is a broad, site-wide 404 of course and not a specialized one for this page.. I didn't realize this was an option and it's an interesting thought. I will consider it. It does make me nervous. I want to get rid of every trace of this page as quickly as possible. We are supplementing with a slight bump in PPC in the meantime. Luckily I have it in my budget to do so. And the thing is.. we are currently outranked by all of our competitors so it can't get much worse. The real kicker here is all of our competitors are using blackhat tactics. It's extremely frustrating. Their links are coming from Bangladesh Travel Forums talking about hair products and linking to completely irrelevant pages with exact-match anchor phrasing. And there are thousands of them... It's been this way for many months and I keep thinking they'll get penalized but so far it's us falling in the rankings. Hopefully this makes a difference. We'll see -- One thing I do notice about the other blackhat sites is that they don't have any links pointing at internal pages, only the subdomain. Our former blackhat pointed at the internal page in question (and the subdomain as well) and while I've removed as many as possible it's still affecting us. The thing is, the other keywords I target that are just as competitive I am kicking butt in. Top 3 spots for several of them and they don't have any links pointing to the specific page targeting said keyword. So I hope that theory carries over to this primary keyword as well. I'm babbling now. That's what I get for thinking about work on the weekend! Thanks again and I'll keep the moz-community posted.

The New Moz
Well alrighty here we are. This forum is hurting my eyes and I miss the old one. I've yet to explore otherwise and obviously am not one of the lucky moz-beta testers but when I arrived to this forum I was forced to borrow a phrase from the lovable Jar Jar Binks. EEE GADS

Server Location & SEO
Actually, Google position is this: Server location (through the IP address of the server) is frequently near your users. However, some websites use distributed content delivery networks (CDNs) or are hosted in a country with better webserver infrastructure, so we try not to rely on the server location alone. (cited from here). So, where the hosting is not relevant, or so relevant as it could be once. Said that, the IP has a weight, hence you can always associate a IP of your targeted country to your site, even if you are hosting it in your own server (in another country than the targeted one). Finally, as said by the others, Google looks up at the users IP in order to present what it could be the most useful for him (geo-targeting personalization).

Removing Unnatural Link Penalties
Hi Jesse, Without a little help from a googler in the forums there is only one sure way to determine whether you have a manual penalty or not - a reconsideration request. BUT with the knowledge that you have of some issues and the absence of an obvious effect, I would not recommend the reconsideration route, as it is likely it may actually GET you a manual penalty which at this stage I am doubtful you have. I would continue to do good work for your site and at the same time, put some effort into eliminating the most troublesome of the links you know about. Keep a close eye out for any effect (especially when news of the next penguin refresh appears). also...good on you for taking a proactive approach to this and having the guts to make it an issue that gets dealt with.
