Hi István

Hi
I'm running into some top level domain conflicts in Google's webmaster tools. I hope you can help me out. Thanks in advance.
Website example.com has sub folders for each language. There's no content at the root example.com. The root 301 redirects to English at example.com/en/.
In Google Webmaster Tools the root site is added because the web developer can't find a Joomla plugin to put the sitemap and robots file in each sub folder. It's all mixed in the root. So only 1 sitemap and robots exists for all the sub folder languages in the root of the site.
As a results Google shows the root site in search results where it should show the appropriate sub folder (in this case Dutch). I see these conflicts occur everywhere.
Soon Chinese, Romanian and other languages will be added. I'm afraid this problem will only get worse.
What can I do to make sure Google treats every sub folder as a distinctive site and doesn't treat the root as a site?
Julich. I've added the tags and I got onto page 1, position 8. I've been building links as well but this might have added value. Thanks for the suggestion.
As I mostly work with Belgian/Dutch customers, my keywords are often in Dutch. We have a lot of composite words such as "hooikoortsklachten" or "hooikoortverwachting".
If i were to create a Page Title with content:
Hooikoortsklachten | hooikoortsverwachting
Is this parly duplicated (because of the word hooikoorts x2)? or does Google only consider the entire word?
Insights would be much appreciated! Thanks
Hey Jack
I use the Geo Meta Tags to determine location of the website/business (check Wikipedia on this).
Basically I insert these meta tags (example location)
name="geo.position" content="37.996163;-95.712891" />
name="geo.placename" content="6 Hassaluthdreef, Hasselt, Vlaams Gewest 3500, België" />
Hope this helps, Jacob.
Hi Petra
Thanks for your feedback. I got worried because Google bolds the plural and singular keywords when searching for e.g. plural (stickers muraux). Usually I go with plural but in French the singular is not just -s
Hi SEOmoz staff
I'm doing on a French website that sells Wall Stickers. The main French keyword therefore is:
When you look at my homepage title; I've put the singular and plural in there. Do you think it hurts my website? Should I eliminate my least favorite one (= sticker mural)?
Any other advice?
Thank you!
Jacob from Belgium
