Multi-Site SEO using Host Headers
Hi - I'm working on a proposal for a client who runs 3 different career websites. He uses "host headers" to direct the website visitor to the correct website. For example, if the visitor comes from Washington he goes to one url. If he is in Kansas, he goes to another URL.
Does anyone have any experience doing SEO with this type of system? What do I need to know? What are hurdles I'll encounter?
Thanks,
-Hunter

RE: Totally new to SEO and need help with my site
Jonathan,
It looks like you've got a good start to your site. If you were to focus on just 2 things I'd recommend your blog and link building. SEOMoz has a great guide here:

Since you don't have a lot of money you can use your time to do the link building. You'll get the most bang for your buck (clock?) in those two areas.

RE: How is the Top URL for Colorado Springs Realtors ranking for that term?
I did a quick check and you have approximately 8,000 pages indexed by Google (and only 4 according to Yahoo Site Explorer) whereas they have 37,000 indexed by Google (and 2,000+ in Yahoo).
Given the smaller database size of OSE when compared to Google and Yahoo I have to think this plays into the factors as well.

Should a site run it's own affiliate program to get inbound links?
I've recently signed an ecommerce client who runs their affiliate program through Commission Junction. If they were to bring their program in-house and eventually get all those affiliate links pointed to their domain, would those links be counted?
