How will it effect SEO to have multiple h1 tags on a page?
This was a question that was recently raised by somebody else here on the Q&A and you can see the full discussion here. Although the question is slightly different, the answer is the same: it depends which HTML version you are using. If it's HTML4 or XHTML, only use one h1 per page, but if you are using HTML5 you can have one per section. So you could have one in your <nav>, on in your, one in each of the <aside>s on your page and one in your <footer>. The reason for this is that for HTML4 search engines look at headings to give the page hierachy - remember they only had s to separate content areas - but HTML5 uses the new semantic elements like <header>and <fotter>to work out hierarchy, with headings only affecting hierachy within one of those tags.</fotter></header> </footer> </aside> </nav>

What are the benefits of the URL meta tag?
I'm not aware of it having any practical value, for SEOs or users. It's hard to even find what the original intent was - most references are just lists of tags that exist. Some 3rd-party applications could use it, but I've never heard of it impacting Google search.

Redirecting, then redirecting back
301 isn't perfect. It transfers most rank, but not all. It also takes time because Google has to catch up in indexing both the old and new. In the meantime, it's possible your new site gets hit with a duplicate content penalty. Make sure any link partners you might have link to the new url and not the old. Look at your traffic before and after. Did the missing keywords bring in a lot of traffic overall? My suspicion is they probably didn't but, still, you probably did lose some rank by not having the words there. As long as your content is solid for the missing words, you should still do well. Domain age is no longer a major ranking factor. It's possible to make a brand new URL rank well now.
