Tool to Report Fresh New Links Indexed in the Last Week
Hi Glenn, Another way to supplement your intelligence on new links to your site is to add Linkstant, which was built by Tom Critchlow and Rob Ousbey from Distilled. This works similarly to the way analytics does. You place the code and if a new link is clicked that has not been seen by the tool before it will be reported. It's not perfect, but given that most savvy webmasters would check a link by clicking after it is placed, it can be quite quick in surfacing new links for you. Because of the way the tool works, initially you will see it report links you already know about, but after a time the links reported will be bringing you news of new acquisitions. Hope that helps, Sha

LinkedIn and SEO -- Is there a relationship?
Ya, I operate under that assumption about 301's, too. I also can see most every 301 that points to one of my sites on my SEO link tracking tools. However, I can not see links from LinkedIn on any of these. Check OpenSiteExplorer for your site, and see if it lists LinkedIn, and you'll see what I'm talking about. I'm pretty sure that the LinkedIn links are not treated like a 301. I am coming to believe that links on LinkedIn pass no link juice. Would you agree? How could we track/observe if my belief is correct or not?

Does the Referral Traffic from a Link Influence the SEO Value of that Link?
Haha brilliant! I'm totally with you on that. And since Matt doesn't tend to divulge much (and half of what he does is cryptic) that would put Rand as source number one, or I should say Rand & co... all the staff and associates, etc... on here are pretty much a fountain of knowledge. I'd be screwed if I didn't have SEOmoz to learn things from.
