I've tested your custom search form in both, IE6 and Google Chrome, and both do the same, they open a page on batchmaster.co.in in a new window.

Is it what I should expect? Can you tell me what is the problem you have on your end?  It might be your IE that is infected...

I had to deal with something similar in the past, the website was about online donations and wanted to look secure.

All pages were 301 redirected to the https version and it didn't seem to affect their rankings.

If you are to force sitewide https, I suggest to 301 redirect all http pages to their https version and search engine spiders will do their jobs at crawling the new urls and replacing them in the search results.

Don't expect this to happen overnight! It will take some time, you might see some rankings greatly fluctuate, but things should get back to normal and definitely better than having duplicate content all over the place.

How does Website A is a redirect to Website B and can it has one page indexed?

If Website A has a 301 PERMANENT redirection to Website B, then I think it should stay permanent.

If Website A has a page indexed, then I presume it is not a 301 redirection.  In that case, moving the content and making a 301 redirect from Website B to Website A would be a good idea in term of SEO.

But, you shouldn't only think in term of SEO, you should also think in term of branding and usability. What is the domain name that reflects your brand? relates to your products? is easier to remember?

That's what I thought. If you simply want Google to ignore a URL parameter, you can go in  Webmaster Tool and select to ignore it.  You can do the same with Bing in their Webmaster Center at http://www.bing.com/webmaster/

If you are still worried, you could as well implement the canonical tag, but, of course, do it with caution so you don't end up losing all your rankings!

This problem probably come from the headers of the file and not from the content itself.  You might want to look at the headers returned by your URL using one of the following tools :

http://www.seoconsultants.com/tools/headers
http://www.rexswain.com/httpview.html
http://web-sniffer.net/
http://www.g-force.ca/referencement/entetes

When you got the headers, I suggest you post it here so we can look into it.

I would say that the best way to implement the canonical tag is by not implementing it. You should always prefer using 301 redirects over rel canonical and what would be even better is to simply not having the same content on different URL.
