Mysterious ave pageload time spikes since major redesign
Quick thing to check - have a look at your server logs. Those kinds of random load time increases look typical of the load spikes that are typical of bot overloads - where spambots may be hitting your pages in bursts, causing the server to overload and slow (or even reset, as Vijay mentions). Those bot hits aren't recorded in GA - you'll have to look at the actual server access logs to find them. Hope that helps? Paul

Soft 404 error for a big, longstanding 301-redirected page
Eric, you're right that you should be 301 redirecting the old page to the new one using a 301 Permanent Redirect. If Google Search Console is showing you that they're getting a 404 error on that URL, then they're getting it--it's not that they're telling you you no longer are getting any benefit from the 301 redirect. I would check the redirect to see if it's still working. Use a server header check tool, or I like Rex Swain's HTTP tool: http://www.rexswain.com/httpview.html Also, you should use Google's own Fetch and Render tool to make sure that they can reach the page and they don't get a 404 error: https://support.google.com/webmasters/answer/6066468?rd=2 I have seen cases where we can get to a page or see the redirect but Google cannot. So you need to use the Fetch & Render to make sure Google isn't being blocked. I've see a case where users could get to the site but Google was being blocked and given a 404 error.

There are two reasons that i still didn't move to HTTPS: Twitter counter Facebook likes Since Twitter counter was killed only remain likes. But i will move soon w/o waiting for them. Only G+ follow 301 redirect and pass links.

Interlinking vs. 'orphaning' mobile page versions in a dynamic serving scenario
Hi Eric, That's a great question! To be safe I'd suggest adding an HTML sitemap page (for both the mobile and desktop versions) which includes links to all the pages on the site. That way you can be sure that Googlebot Mobile is able to crawl the full site. Hope that helps!

What is the best way to hide duplicate, image embedded links from search engines?
The drop in your site traffic may be due to a number of things, not just links on the page. If you restructured your URLs, changed title tags, etc etc. There can be lots of reasons besides number of links on the page. You now have a new site that Google is trying to sort out and so you may simply have a little drop in the SERPs. If you have the tools, look and see if your ranking did drop and monitor that. Also use your analytics to see where the drop is coming from. There are a couple of good posts on SEOMoz that have info on the 100 page link rule http://www.seomoz.org/q/how-can-i-reduce-the-number-of-links-on-a-page-and-keep-the-site-easy-to-navigate http://www.seomoz.org/q/can-i-reduce-link-count-by-no-following-links
