Have you ran it through the Panguin tool to check and see if they have gotten any penalties? Did they have traffic and lose it? Or just never have traffic?

I would put the content in the sitemap, and once the cars are gone I would remove the items from the sitemap and put up 301 redirects to either the car category page or a similar page. The article below does a pretty good job explaining.

Since my preference is always to have people land on the page with thumbnails that is what I was thinking but wanted to double check. Thank you.

That is what I thought but our numbers are so off that it didn't make sense. This site has a great web presence with high impressions and image impressions are much higher. Personally I use web search much more then image search and I imagine most other people do as well.

I will ask in the forums to see what they say. This particular site has a great web presence and really good impressions. The image impressions are almost triple the search impressions which really took me off guard.

These pages will be almost identical. They are category pages for ecommerce and the only difference is it will display all items and there will be no thumbnails. It sounds like you are saying not to put them in the sitemap in this instance?

They are category pages for an ecommerce site. Currently we list the items 25 to a page with a thumbnail. The second view will be all of the items in a basic list view with no thumbnails. We have some categories with several hundred items and our users have requested a way to see them all on one page.

Is it when someone does an image search? Or does it count a regular search that has images in it?

On an image search does the picture actually have to be viewed on the screen or can it be below in the infinite scroll?

I am working on an ecommerce site and I am going to add different views to the category pages. The views will all have different urls so I would like to add the rel="canonical" tag to them. Should I still add these pages to the sitemap?

I was reading it as have a separate image sitemap thinking I needed 50 different sitemaps. This makes a lot more sense. Thank you.

I am trying to setup permalinks on a wordpress blog that is installed on iis. I can't update the web.config file so I have to make every page /index/pagetitle. as shown here-http://codex.wordpress.org/Using_Permalinks#PATHINFO:_.22Almost_Pretty.22

How much of a difference is there between no /index and having the /index in there?

Is it worth creating an image sitemap? I read an image sitemap can only have 1k entries would I need to make 50 different ones?

Today it has a green check mark, and absolutely no changes were made to the website since I asked this question.

When I go to the tester it shows the live robots.txt with no problems. I also can look at the server logs and see that it is being crawled, but being crawled less then Bing Crawls. Also the Bing Webmaster Tools is showing no problems.

If I was in your position I would try to get it integrated into my site as soon as possible that way you are leveraging your existing domain authority. It is much easier to rank a page that is tied to a good domain (assuming you have a good domain) then it is to start from scratch then move.

I think either of those would be better. If you do the change make sure you do your 301s correctly.

Under the tester I can currently see the latest version. This site hasn't changed URLs recently, and we haven't made any changes to the robots.txt file for two years. This problem just started in the last month. Should I worry?
