RE: Redirecting old Sitemaps to a new XML
Hi! Yeah, that's what i said. I would just ignore it and mark as fixed. Just be sure you crawl the whole site so that you dont have the old one linked on some page on your site.

RE: Https & http urls in Google Index
Part 1:
I would definitely get that fixed asap. I would also check analytics (add in a separate https if you haven't) make sure analytics is actually tracking each page, http or https
Are you tracking rankings though? Have you seen any dips? Have you seen any trends declining over the months/years? That might also be affecting your traffic so it might be a combination.
Part 2:
Definitely. You have to check your site and optimize it for mobile. IF that is really a valuable part of your strategy, then you have to look into that ASAP. They are really big in usability right now and they even show a rating in the their pagespeed/insights tool for mobile. Be sure to fix the issues.
Since it's an old site with that much traffic, you might want to start doing a content audit as well.
Good luck!

RE: Ecommerce Traffic increase - moving from 500 to 1000 words/category
Ill just give a practical response based from my own ecom projects
Category optimisation DOES wonders for impressions and SEO. You've seen it work.
In my case, increasing the content length DID help get more impressions but not conversions (directly)
If it helps people to make choices for products, go for it. If you are just increasing the length just for the sake of SEO, that's where you will need to make a judgement call.
Consider your traffic data and conversion funnels that you have right now and make the decision based on that.
Hell, if I was asked this personally, Id just say go for it, test it and see what happens, but like Doug mentioned, it might make you lose money if you are already converting well and that's the last thing we want to happen

RE: Fashion store is throbbing ....
if you see no fault then its probably the "new page ranking high and dropping all of the sudden" phenomenon lol which was explained
1. Check your drop, when it happened, if it's around may 21-22 and onwards, then look at your link profile (which is full of directory links) so Im not saying that it caused it, but it could've.
2. moz page grader is not your answer to onpage seo and actual rankings, it's just a way to quickly analyse the basics. You need to do more, especially on sites like yours.
your site looks cool though

RE: Sudden data lost of links in Webmaster tools & search clicks too decreased to zero
Hi Dave,
Just add the https version to webmaster tools.
Then wait. That'll fix all your issues.
The collected data from the old http though wont show in the new one. It's completely normal for that to happen so dont worry.
Hope that solves your problem

RE: Bing Disavow file
I haven't actually seen a way to upload CSV's on Bing yet. (Weird I know)
I've always had it done one at a time...unless they magically added a button recently but it's been one at a time ever since.

RE: Getting People to Leave Product Reviews, When they've reached our site in search of reviews
you could start with an incentive. (maybe thru email marketing or social) or maybe a run a contest.
It's really not that easy to get people to leave reviews unless it came from a targeted organic keyword (aka a superfan of the product that just wants to leave a review)
You could pick 2 of your top pages and do 1 test each to see what brings you the best results

RE: Page Authority and Google updates favouring websites with black hat practices ?
it depends heavily on your niche. If everyone is doing it then it means that it is lucrative and these guys will just make churn and burn domains just to cash in so it will never go away permanently.
You'll see sites come and go but eventually, you will win if you keep up the work.

RE: Site Search Box
It will not always show
The best chance I got was when I had a site receive a message in webmaster tools about using it. That's when it showed up quickly.
I got it to show with an older branded site that didnt receive a message.
So it really depends on the site.

RE: Best to Fix Duplicate Content Issues on Blog If URLs are Set to "No-Index"
I encounter sometimes that with my clients. The basic thing to do is just to add a canonical since they are already noindexed especially for themes that utilize certain pages within a page. Crazy sounding but some themes actually does this so you can't remove the duplicate page, so noindexing it then adding a canonical is already good enough.
But since you mentioned these are just tags, then simply noindexing them is fine. (I'm assuming these are just basic wordpress tags)
As for your pagination question, use a canonical to link to a URL where all the posts are shown. That's the basic rule for that situation and it's somewhere in Google guidelines about pagination

RE: What should go in a "Link Juice" cocktail?
we usually just stick with ColdBrews (seo's = coffee lovers = ultimate internet profile cliche)
I can't think of anything to relate with SEO/links at the moment, but I could do with anything with a Gin base right now. TGIF.

RE: Can we scan for Competitor keywords with Moz Pro?
If you are already with MozPro then just grab all their anchor texts, then plug that in a rank tracker

Aside from that, SEMrush.

RE: Could the EMD update affect my domain?
Hi Cesar!
I dont think it's a problem unless you were blatantly over optimizing the site or maybe just stopped working on it if it's dropping in the rankings.
I love my EMD's. It's not as favoured as before from my POV but its still pretty effective.

RE: 301 Redirect? How to leverage the traffic on our old domain.
301 the domain over to capitalize fully but it sounds like you might want to keep both sites active.
If you have content that you want to move over or is ranking, be sure to create separate 301 from the old url to the new url. The page that receives the 301 will benefit from that. In many cases, the new url will rank in the place of the old one.
If they have pages that have great backlinks (like an about page or products page) but you don't really want to move them over and want to just delete them, then just 301 those urls to relevant urls on your site and you will benefit from their links.
Hope that helps! Good luck!

RE: Need help with Title tags
I see what Federico is seeing. So you should be ok.
I have experienced yoast's plugin conflicting with some themes though, when it came to title and description tags. Sometimes, Google indexes the theme's built in SEO title tag together with Yoast's plugin. It's weird, but I've seen it happen before.

RE: A Sudden Drop in Keyword Ranking but why?
The title will not have that big of an impact to drop your rankings. I go with 65 chars, but 70 is fine. Your meta keywords area is spammed to death though lol so you might want to minimize that. Is the drop huge though? It's hard to say how you can get a big drop with tweaks like that.

RE: Duplicate Page Content for www and non-www. Help!
Hi!
Pick one of them. Probably the non-www version as that's the indexed one in Google
Next, 301 the www to non-www.
Wordpress handles that flawlessly so Im not sure why its not redirecting you correctly. Maybe check your Settings->General or check your htaccess if something changed.
It should always redirect.
That should fix your issue so you can continue with the other important stuff that you are doing.

RE: Change post with date to page without date
I totally understand what you mean, especially with keywords like that and the nature of searchers looking for that.
Switching to a page doesnt really matter. Just move over the content and try to use the same permalinks. If the url structure right now of the post is impossible to replicate, you have some choices to do. 301 the url or worst case, canonical+nofollow.
Don't sweat it, it's going to be the same content. Just be sure to remove the post once you've moved it.
Good luck!

RE: A friend has a question about buying and using a domain
Hi
It's true that there is nothing really wrong with it and that it will be hard to remember but she can always use other emails and forward to another email address.
I think using another domain is somewhat of a waste if it's "just" for email.
If she has the time, then she can use that extra domain as a separate lead generator, maybe as a blog/landing page (and can also be used for links to the main site) - At least it's not just for emails.
If you meant to ask about which domain to use primarily, nowadays, keyword domains like BikramYogaSantaClarita.com are usually "frowned" upon due to one of Google's recent updates so they normally recommend using the brand name... but it actually still works great.
Slap on some good content, send it some good links and it'll rank easily.
