Large Competitor closed, how to capitalize in search. Any ideas?
Hi Miriam, Hope you're doing well. Thanks for always answering my questions. Yes, they closed at LAX Los Angeles and many other US cities as well. But they still rank for that location and rank very well. It has been almost 2 months since they stopped their operation at LAX. And to answer your 2nd question yes, we do serve LAX we're not ranking as well as we would like but I was hoping to try to capitalize on this opportunity. One thing to mention that is important is this. Their website does not mention that they no longer serve these locations, in fact their city page still lists these pages as being served. But if you try to get a quote online or even call the phone number you will get a response that we no longer serve this location. The company was sold to a venture capital firm which decided to close some of the unprofitable cities. I reached out to the venture firm to see if it possible to buy their local phone number, customer email list etc but they are not interested in selling those. So I was wondering what else can I do to get their customers. They have been in business for almost 20 years and they do have a large number of customer lists etc.

URL no longer ranks after redesign, everything was done by the book. Can someone plz help?
This echoes what Thomas said but I'll weigh in anyway. This is your old URL: https://www.dcacar.com/dulles-limo-service.html. You say it has been redirected to the new page with a 301, which is only partially accurate. You need to install this Chrome extension which will allow you to inspect redirects and chains: https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/redirect-path/aomidfkchockcldhbkggjokdkkebmdll?hl=en. Visit the old URL (http://www.dcacar.com/dulles-limo-service.html) and you will see that it redirects no less than four times (instead of just once). Google probably didn't follow your redirect all the way through. This is your page's redirect path: https://www.dcacar.com/dulles-limo-service.html (301) -> https://dcacar.com/dulles-limo-service.html (301) -> https://dcacar.com/dulles-limo-service.html/ (301) -> https://dcacar.com/dulles-limo-service (301) -> https://dcacar.com/dulles-limo-service/ (200) . Redirects should be A to B, simple. They shouldn't chain up like this

Website redesign- change of server . What to do with old site? Keep for a while or delete right away?
Keep it for a short-time in case something was overlooked. I also like to keep the 301's in place for the reason that there maybe an external site linking to the .html pages. If the 301's are not in place, these links will 404. Good luck!

New websites issues- Duplicate urls and many title tags. Is it fine for SEO?
For the first issue, you don't have multiple Page Titles. Only the text inside of is your Page Title. On the other lines you have an OG title (which is for OpenGraph / social and messenger sharing). You also have a Meta title, which is just another form of title. It should be fine to have these three essentially the same, though you'd probably want the ability to customise each of them if desired (sometimes the same link text that compels people to click on Google, isn't so effective on FaceBook or WhatsApp, so at the least you'd want to be able to specify a custom OG title vs your regular <title>tag)</p> <p>The second issue could be a real problem, especially if there are internal links which point to paginated URLs which don't exist, which also don't 404. If you can only create these infinite pagination URLs via manual browsing, it shouldn't be too big of a deal. If the internal link structure 'creates' them, that's another kettle of fish (and I'd take immediate action)</p></title>

URL ranks in US pretty well except in target city area. Please advise.
Hi Davit, I see! Yes, I do think you should start a new thread specific to technical issues, as they are different than the original scope of this thread. You could get some fresh eyes on it!

Can Someone explain why this site ranks #1 and #2? I am confused.
Hi Davit, Thanks for the links! I agree with you that it seems a bit weird seeing this business, with no GMB listing, doing so well organically. I looked at a few things I normally look at, and couldn't see a "easy" explanation. So, I asked one of our organic SEO experts, Britney Muller, if she could take a glance at this, and she suggested a couple of things: Your competitor has been around since 2006, so pretty established Your competitor has invested in links, which appear to be paying off "LAX car service" is one of the phrases they are doing best on, though they are not doing so well on other terms They are investing heavily in PPC, which could be producing what she described as some sort of "halo" effect Taking all of that into consideration, I do consider this competitor of yours as having earned rankings for this term that don't make immediate sense. Give this, I believe if you could hire a good company to do a full competitive audit for you, you should be able to map out a strategy to surpass them, but it may take some doing. Hope you'll receive other feedback.

Blogger has reached out to me. What to do??
Hi Davit If as you say you would not get anything from this mention in the way of a paying customer because as you say in your own words 'her audience is not our target customer' I would have to ask yourself if her audience is not relevant how would Google see the relevance of a mention to your site in her blog etc. Are all the other posts on her blog in a similar vein or is she a genuine blogger discussing a particular topic consistently, if its the former then I probably wouldn't bother. Hope this helps.

Help with 301 redirects.
When you 301 Page A To Page B. For Google bot now b is new a. All links(past + future) of A ======> B Because B is new A. In other words, future links of Page A pass link juice to Page B.
