Thanks for chiming in Rand. I am not sure if you should be telling that the comment is from Traffic Generation Cafe. It was rather from link-assistant and the owner of the blog, Ana just posted it.

I wouldn't have brought this up if it was a genuine user comment. Everyone is entitled to their opinion. however, if a competitor tries to give a bad name, that's another thing.

I remember link-assistant coming up with claims that another tool Market Samurai is supposedly not telling the truth to it's users and it will take them minimum 6 months to fix it. Truth is, MS team foxed it under a week

Anyway the problem people raise is that they cant afford 99$ a month. So how come a $147 spam tool like SEnuke is affordable?

Yeah. Most people do not realize the power of the community. When you say 99$ is too much for a tool, it shows how limited your knowledge of SEOmoz PRO is.

Rand, I think something needs to be done about the perception that SEOmoz is just a tool! But we love it the way it is. Keeps naysayers out of this ecosystem!

The blog owner Ana, is a nice person and I respect her. But this time, she might have missed the fact that the person who made the comment works for a competitor.

Yes I know that I may have to be slightly grey hat for this.

Here is the problem with guest posts. If I build relationship with people (blog owners), then they'd know more about me. They'd know where I work and what I do. The problem comes when doing a guest post for someone else. Most bloggers I know do not allow you to post guest post linking to your clients for the purpose of SEO. There are some that do, but majority of the A listers, don't do that.

So when we have to build link for clients, it's difficult to get links from them unless we have a very good say in how the blog links out. This is best achieved by private link networks.

Of course there are other ways. But my question revolves around this idea. How viable is it to build a network of sites (Domain sites or web 2.0)

Assuming you need to build a private link network from scratch, how would you go about doing it? I am not looking for some shady tactic, but rather something that would be white hat, yet will help in our SEO efforts.

Anyway, thanks for the help. My ranking has reached first page for Google.com and Google.co.uk but it's not reflected in SEOMoz campaign dashboard as the last update for me happened on 01/17/2012 and not after that.

If I am paying for SEOMoz which should automatically keep track of my rankings, why would I need another third party tool to do that for me?
