Firstly, I think it's important to note that the tool isn't telling you that the site has canonical issues. Canonical issues are basically when you can view the same page from more than one version of the URL.

The "too many links" issue is, as it suggests, the page has too many links.

At the moment the homepage (http://www.texaspoker.dk/) has 102 links, which is acceptable however you should look at removing any unnecassary links on-page. Generally, you should look at having few than 100 links on a page. Having 102 is fine but obviously if you can remove unnecessary links, do it.

The fewer links on the page the better

OK, do you happen to have Live HTTP Headers for FireFox (or any other tool/plug-in that'd be able to record all http headers) so you can see what exactly is happening with the redirects?

If so, could you again paste that over to pastebin.com?

I've just checked the source for the example page that you've mentioned and within the source, the canonical URL is set to http://www.vipfishingcharters.com/broward-county/dania-beach-fishing-charters-and-fishing-boats.html which is the duplicate URL that you mentioned.

I'd recommend that you download a tool called Xenu:

http://home.snafu.de/tilman/xenulink.html

This tool will crawl your entire site and you'll be able to find out what other pages within the site are linking to each specific page.

OK, there's nothing strange with the htaccess.

I'd suggest that you now disable all of the plug-ins expect for Yoast's just so you can debug if the issue is due to any other plug-ins installed.

I know it sounds strange, but I'd also suggest that you go to the permalinks section of the WordPress admin and update the settings - don't change anything at the moment, just update. Sometimes that can reset any issues with the permalinks.

Hmm, that's pretty strange. It sounds like you could have an issue with your htaccess file.

Could you paste your .htaccess file to pastebin.com?

You also said that you've attempted to use a few different plug-ins to achieve this - I'd suggest that you double check that the other plug-ins aren't active. Would you be able to send over a list of the plug-ins that are active too, in addition to the .htaccess file contents?

This is common with WordPress, attatchments by default have their own pages.

Have you heard of Yoast's SEO plug-in before?

I'd recommend that you install Yoast's SEO plug-in, it has the ability to redirect attachment pages back to the main page which is what you're trying to achieve.

AEM13 mentioned that the site is fine in other search engines so there's no way that the meta tag is the issue..

I'd recommend that you give a tool called Xenu a try. You can download it free here:

The tool will basically crawl your entire site and it'll detail the status of each page that it's crawled. You can then view where the page was linked to, so you could go through all of the pages that are 404 and see exactly what pages are linking to that 404 page for you to then action upon.

We all have our own views on certain aspects of SEO I guess, however I strongly view all extensions as equal value (unless of-course you're using a .us when targeting a UK audience).

There will be more factors than simply the extension, have you got an example you could send over where you're seeing the EMD .co.uk outranking the .org.uk?

That's correct what you said regarding how Google looks for a GEO within WMT's and then if there's nothing set within WMT's it'll look for other clues, such as the domain extension.

If you have a ccTLD though, Google will set a default location within WMT's that you can't change (there are some ccTLD's that are excempt from this rule, .co.uk and .org.uk aren't excempt though).

If a product is likely to come back in the future, I'd strong suggest against redirecting the product at-all. Simply leave it to build authority whilst inactive but do display a message saying that it’s not available for purchase.

Basically, you're focusing on the main correlation (the domain extension) that you can see between all of the points and assuming that's the main factor.

It's nothing to do with the extension that when you're conducting a search, you're only seeing .com's in the results. A .com domain has just as much chance as a .us domain as ranking when targeting in the US.

There are other reason why there's not a .us ranking within the results for the queries that you're searching for, it's just a correlation that you're seeing.

Do the individual products have their own URL?

If so, I wouldn't worry about having a page for "sold items", unless of-course that's the only section of the site that mentions the said products.

Without looking at the site, I'd expect there to be categories within the site and within the categories there would be products and each product would have it's own individual page. If that's the case, there should be no need for a page listing "sold items". I'd suggest that the sold items are kept within the category that they're meant for so that they're still linked to internally; perhaps at the bottom so that the active products are at the top and the inactive are at the bottom?

If you could explain how the site works a little further (or provide a URL, I'll be able to give you a more relevant answer).

When targeting for the US, a .us domain has just as much chance of ranking as a .com domain has, it's simply a correlation that the results you're seeing down have a .us ranking - not a causation.

Ah, I'm not too sure if this was what you meant to ask in your reply to our answer - I thought you were wondering how to find out if there are any other versions of the same page within the SERPs. If that was what you meant, sorry!

I found /default.aspx by experience; I saw that your site was an ASP site which is famous for having /default.aspx as the homepage and 9/10 it won't 301 redirect back to the root.
