Its quite common to use bold text within content to highlight terms, this is also done on a written document, however its all about the usage, if every other word is bolded or keywords are bolded over and over, it probably dilutes the weight given to bolded text and will appear spammy, so use with care and a human eye!

so I guess you're wanting to achieve this (http://extensions.ecommerce-team.com/apparel?___store=shopbypro&reset_filter=1) - aor something similar using ajax so the page updates without re-loading?
I guess you need to use token's in the url path rather than a dynamic url. Its a big job as you'll have to define some rules to say colour must come first, brand second, range last or something similar so you end up with domain.com/brown/levis/jackets/ - is that right?
Essentially its working as a site search with some defined rules, so you'd have to think about the following:
404's - if your pages are built on queries, a user could potentially create a link to a page domain.com/brown/jackets/f**k/, obviously this would need to return a 404 or this could be indexed.
Canonical - the previosu point brings about dudplicate content issues, if you don't define the rules then you could have /brown/jackets/levis/ vs. /brown/levis/jackets/ showing the same content, so there needs to be some canonical management.
So you can use ajax to call a particular URL, you would need to use the filters as links ( <a>tags) so the pages are crawled and pull that content (search results) back, the url wouldn't changes though unfortunately, but it would still be linked to from the</a> <a>tag.</a>

I would create password protected URL say theofficesuppliessupermarketonline.com/google_shopping.xml and let Google shopping crawl that URL, saves you having to upload it all the time! I would set it to crawl the feed daily, there's no harm in having it regularly updated.
To optimise the feed, just use the common methods:
competitive price
keyword usage in the product name
free delivery
reviews (rich snippets)
Store Name
Brand
Category
MPN
GTIN
the other additional field such as weight, colour etc will also favour you, the more info you can send over on the product the better, you could even be sneaky and create specific product sets for Google base that include promo text in the product title?

Just a follow up note to Daylan's great advice, the harm in it being longer than 70 characters is that the keyword usage becomes more diluted and less specific.

Hello!
I've been working with the various Google Docs Spreadsheets out there taking advantage of web scraping using xml and the seomoz api.
I want to be able to track keyword rank by week, I've been playing around but can't seem to get it nailed on, I'm looking to put keyword in column 1, domain in col 2 and keyword rank on google uk in col 3.
Anybody done/seen anything like this in a G spreadsheet?

My preference is not to redirect to m.domain.com as there are potential issues with m.domain.com listings appearing in natural search. I would use the user agent detection, I think this gives the best user experience as well, rather than re-directing, what type of re-direct are you using anyway?
I would for best practice, still specify google mobile bot to crawl the mobile version of your website only ans restrict normal g bot form the mobile version.

We publish a URL that GPS can crawl daily to get the most real-time update on product data. The more info you pass over to GPS the more impressions you receive and the more likely that your products will show up to a more qualified user. Do you track your conversion rate form GPS traffic?
Other general tips like free delivery, including reviews rich snippets etc will help your CTR. I would also look at your competitors product that are appearing and how they have named the product, There is usually improvements to be made on keyword placement.
One other aspect we are working on is having specific products for a GPS feed that have special offers for GPS users like xyz% off for GPS traffic, this way the price is reduced and increases the listing position. - In theory...
