Hi,

I'm conducting an on-page review for someone and have noticed something I've not seen before.

Some of the major internal links from the home page are marked as no follow. For example:

<a <span="">href</a><a <span="">="</a>/customer-services" rel="nofollow">Customer Services

This is on the top navigation bar and the content in this and all other sections are marked as no-follow but they should all be crawled. Is this an error or am I missing something?

Any ideas guys?

The meta data is very clear on what the site is about (both title and description). The issue is it's showing up in the SERPs and users are just clicking without reading anything.

That is a shame but as many of the other Pro Members have commented it's not a deal breaker. Dr Pete used to answer most of my questions so I'll miss him dearly but the the public Q&A is sufficient for most cases.

Can I ask is the Public Q&A open for indexation by Google or do you need to be cookied in to read the questions? I'm trying to understand if Google alerts or clients searching for their site will pick up questions about them when mentioned? It's always great to get another opinion on certain subjects but of course some clients may not want their indexation issues or site crawling issues 'out there' for everyone to see.

I can't give timeframes but I had a client who had 100+ property sites interlinked (nothing to do with my advice!) and these guys starting to see the sites with no other links in their portfolio get smashed for rankings. One was pretty much de-indexed and was not ranking for its meta title. I sent a re-inclusion request via Google WM tools and after around 5 weeks the site started to rank again. It ranked worse after the drops but I think you'll find that the rankings and traffic were won by an artificially inflated link graph so if you get a re-inclusion request filed and all is forgiven it will be lower down in the SERPs as the site should not have been so high in the first place.

Thats what happened to me anyway but how G react depends on how many other non-reciprocal links you have. When you file a re-inclusion request grovel and come clean. Thats what I did and it seemed to work.

Thanks for your input. The term is actually quite bad as in not your main stream type of adult content so I'm not sure how nice the people are but I get you drift
