Too many links? Do links to named anchors count (ie page#nameanchor)?
I'd tend to agree with Dawn - it's a balancing act. I wrote about it a bit back: http://www.seomoz.org/blog/how-many-links-is-too-many As for named anchors, though, they should be fine. Google should treat them all as links to "page.html" (as long as they're true named anchors and not AJAX) and basically ignore the 2nd, 3rd, etc. link. They may not even be crawled (I'm not 100% sure on that), but they shouldn't dilute your internal link juice.

Redirect based on location best practice clarification?
Have a script to detect if Googlebot is present. If it is, have the main site, without geo-location personalization. If it's not, redirect using 302, and canonicalize just like Groupon. This is NOT a violation of Google's TOS, because you are doing it to provide personalized results for site visitors, and not doing it to trick Google. Geo-redirection is a perfectly valid user experience concept under those circumstances. As for Groupon leaving the URL at the root, they're just populating the content behind the scenes (at the code level) for those users. Again, it's for a high value user experience, not to trick search engines.

Multiple domain level redirects to unique sub-folder on one domain...
That's a good point you make Cyrus in regards to linking to a site that has competitors on it also. I have considered this and my idea was to pass in a url param that would not show anything else only the restaurants own menu. For example, menus.com/bobs-pizza?ads=0 would not show a search bar or any other links (simply just their own menu). This page would have rel-canonical link to menus.com/bobs-pizza so as to maintain link juice... Other option i was thinking was to include an iframe on the restaurants page that would source data from menus.com. I guess i could have a link pointing back to menus.com at the bottom of the menu in the iframe. I think the link idea makes sense rather the redirect for the reasons you mentioned. Maybe i could have a popup on mobile devices that contains a link to the menu's site (again this would be in javascript - not sure if this is a good idea though). Any other ideas on how i may be able to show a link (only on mobile devices) that could point to menus.com (in a SEO friendly way)?

Show root domain (that is 301 redirected) in SERP?
Adam I didn’t really find out any good resource to back my opinion but I have worked with multiple sites and I can say that when you 301 redirect multiple domains on different pages of your website it gives Google a suspicious clue about your authenticity and trust as most spammers use this tactic in order to grab traffic and rankings for many fat head key phrases… As far as my knowledge goes canonical should not have a negative impact at all as this s a way of telling Google what is the original version of the content and there is a fair possibility that a great content can be reused at 100s of times….

Schema.org for restaurant menus
Hi Adam, I know this is an old thread but if you get this you might find it useful. I just checked a particular brewery site; they have their menu marked up with the url and it seems to be picked up by the rich snippets tool OK, although it does throw a few errors.I tested it on a few of my other tools and it definitely gets picked up without a problem. Here is the GWT link
