Dates in the URLs for a "hot" content website (tipping service)
Yes, using a date structure in URLs can help search engines understand the date context of the information. For example, CNN uses a date-based system, like this, where the date is right after the URL: /yyyy/mm/dd/: http://politicalticker.blogs.cnn.com/2013/11/06/documents-show-first-days-of-obamacare-rollout-worse-than-initially-realized/?hpt=hp_t1 ABC News uses a similar structure: http://abcnews.go.com/blogs/politics/2013/11/the-notes-must-reads-for-wednesday-november-6-2013/ As does the NY Daily News: http://www.nydailynews.com/blogs/theraces/2013/11/daily-news-staff-aqueduct-selections-for-wednesday-november-6-2013 Hope this helps... Good SEO consulting company for content strategy
Seems like a great site for a forum or "Youbet Blog" where your users can submit guest blogs on their strategies. Seems like you have some sort of thing where people are buying each other's strategies. So the really good ones will write about their strategies to promote themselves, and then sell more of their tips or whatever.

How to design a site map page for users (not for Google)
User orientated sitemaps can be useful, but it is dependent on the site. Certainly I remember coding them (and writing them out manually - the horror!) for a long time before Google et al started reading xml sitemaps. Depending on the site structure they can use useful for SEO too. I would say this is particularly the case where for medium sized sites that do not have the best site architecture. In those cases a sitemap can provide a nice fast route in to deeper content for spiders. Potentially useful.
