Sponsored Listings Hurting Local SEO?
No problem if the listing is free or paid but when it comes to local SEO your NAP (Name, Address and Phone Number) should be consistent across the website and if any service is changing the phone number that means you will face the issues with regards to local SEO. My idea is to use the service that submit your business to these yellow pages and data aggregator website once, and then manually shift the listing to featured (I you like) usually not all local citation websites produce leads but websites like Yelp, YP.com, super pages are good names when it comes to conversions through citation websites. Hope this helps!

When to remove links
Semrush.com shows a sharp decline in rankings that started April 2012. This was when the Penguin algorithm first rolled out. I wouldn't worry so much about the number of links coming from each domain, but rather the quality of the domain overall. Your site has a large number of links from bookmark sites that are probably affecting it negatively. For example: http://www.bookmarkshack.com/story.php?title=las-vegas-animal-hospitals http://www.bookmarkupload.com/story.php?title=las-vegas-animal-hospitals-1 http://bookmarkdoc.com/story.php?title=-veterinary-hospital-las-vegas Penguin was designed to knock down sites that had been cheating their way to the top. You can escape Penguin, but there is a good chance that you won't return to your original high rankings as they were probably based on the power of links that are no longer counting (and probably working against you now.) To escape Penguin you'll need to identify every single self made link that was made solely for SEO purposes and try to remove it. If you can't remove it then disavow it at the domain level. If you've done a thorough job, then the next time Penguin refreshes you may see some improvement. But, in order to get good rankings again you'll need to find ways to attract links naturally which is not as easy as building easy links.

Thanks Paul! Why do you think there was more than just a shared IP? Brant

Update: Copied Website
Hi Brant- Since it looks like they really didn't "copy" the site as much as mirror it (all the content is coming from your site directly), maybe you can ask your host to look into blocking their ip somehow from accessing the content. Ken

Copied Website
I was in a similar situation. I noticed a website is resolving my server IP address and hence duplicating all my content from my main domain. So I added a Google verification file to my maindomain.com . Then added duplicatedomain to my WMT and verified using same google verification file. The duplicate domain got verified. I submitted a request in WMT to remove all content from Google index. Let us see will see if there is any impact to the ranking.

Bad Backlinks and Copied Website
Hi Brant, It's always a good thing to be aware of all of the links pointing to your website. I would look at the Webmaster Tools link data, but realize that it's not necessarily going to give you all the links. I would also look at Open Site Explorer, Majestic SEO, and ahrefs links, as well. If you find there are links that you think are low quality, I would use the Disavow Tool to disavow them. If there is a site that has copied your site, then consider filing a DMCA request with Google and the web host to get the content removed. You might look at your site's log files to see which IP addresses are hitting your site and getting the content and try to block it from happening.
