Much better to it in your html, google is not the only reason to use microdata, there are other search engines and crawlers

My gut feeling is that a catch al 301, is not a good thing, I cant give you any evidence, just a bit of reasoning and gut feeling.

I always try to put myself in the SE shoes, would i think a lot of 301's pointing to one not relavant page is natual? and would it be hard to detect? I would answer No and No. Although i used to do it to my home page a while ago, I guess i had a different gut feeling back then

Philip gives good advise, I would add, that if there is no manual penalty, then the algorithm will be dismissing links at best, it would not be penalizing you for them. not for links anyhow

The good think about using TLD's likee .com.uk  or .com.au is that you dont need to worry about duplicate content, Matt Cutts has said as much.

Not quite sure I understand what you want to check, but as long as one 301's to the other it does not really matter. it may take some time for SE's to catch up.

Are you saying you want to check if it is resolving correctly?
in IE click F12, and then select Network and start capturing, you will see if its useing a 301, or a useless 302.

If you want to prove to your client that the developer is not on the ball, do a scan with the SEO Toolkit and show the results, if you dont have windows too install it on, i will do one for you.

Many times when people say , my competitor has a spammy link profile, it turns out that among all the worthless links are a few really good ones.

James is correct, is a lot of effort that you could be putting into your primary site.

If some o ne them have good exact match keywords in the domain, them it may be worth the time.

I have a few sites, selling the same product, but I did this because I already have my primary site performing at its optimum, so them putting time into a second site to crowd the results makes sense, but I would be trying to get the first site to the top first.

i would make that choice on the amount of content i had, if i only had one page i would not go for a subdomain.

Yes i believe I have, i can not prove it, but from my observations it has.

Useing the google rich snippits tool shows that they do read then as expected. and logic would tell you that they will work.

Having a image of a product and teh name , description on a page does not tell a search engine that you are descruibing a product, but useing the tool, you can see it reads microdata well, i am sure they would rather present a complete product object to a user then a mere reference to one.

Having 2 or more domains will not help at all, it does not work link that. you would have to 301 redirect them to a single domain and that single domain is the only one that will help.

Yes, freshness update was not for all queries, it was for certain queries that need fresh content such as football scores, or whose on the team this week, obviously we don't want the score from last year or who is playing last year we want the current data, that is where the freshness update may give you a boost while your content is fresh. Having syndicated content I cant see falling into this category, even if it did, being duplicate content would mean that only once source is going to rank.

Also you have to look at indexing, will the duplicate content even be indexed? if so how often.

Dont take every thing Matt Cutts says as the best advice for you, What he says is the best for google not SEO's. Sometimes you need to read between the lines, the second video is a good example, where he does not really say No, he states the question, does it have a Significant impact, he never claims it does not have an impact, and then adds he line about spending your time creating great content. I would take rtghe answer to that as a Yes it has an impact.
i dont think I have every heard matt say, Yes that works you do that and you will get good rankings. , the best you will get is an answer like the second video. He will advise you not to do things but rarly advise of a good idea to beat the search engines.

If it was a DOD attack its a weak effort, it may be screen scappers, spammers on the web do not always know what they are doing, take a look at some of the spam emails you get, addressed Dear "insert name here", they are not always the brightest crayons in the pack. It may be an error on their part.

Check your pages for links that access both. you musthave a link to http://www.mydomain.com/football-teams/index.php in the site somewhere

You need to point your cname to the ip of the server that hosts your sales.domain.com

don't

sales.domain.com > domain.com

Do

sales.domain.com > 123.123.123.123

where 123.123.123.123 is the ip of the hosting webserver.

just a thougth, ip number change may of triggered a re crawl, and pages could be doubled up .

I remebr ewhen i changed ip numbers rankings disapeared a for a few days.
