Looking for a Directory related article
-
An article was published in SEOmoz where the author shared his experience of submitting his site to 100 directories and after waiting several months only 1 of the links was visible in Google WMT or OSE. I believe the article was published a few months ago but my searches were not able to locate the article.
I hereby offer a "Good Answer" plus a cookie for anyone who might be able to offer a link to that article

I appreciate any help from those with outstanding memories or organized bookmarks!

Not this one? http://www.seomoz.org/blog/seo-link-directory-best-practices
I can't seem to find the one you mention, and can't remember it but will keep looking! It sounds interesting.

Was that the main purpose of the article or a smaller feature within it? Surely a search like this would bring it up if it existed...

Thanks for the try ASR, but not that one.
This particular article shared a case study where the author tested the idea of submitting his site to 100 directories. After doing such he waited a period of time but only 1 out of the 100 links was visible in OSE or Google WMT (I can't recall which).
I recall the article itself but nothing more.

I have spent far too much time both on Google and SEOmoz doing various searches and checking the top 50 results. The problem is I can't recall the author or article title. I recall one component where he submitted for 100 links and only got 1. I even tried searches for "100" but that is a very common term on SEOmoz.
Thanks for the idea but I am afraid I am still stuck.

Hi Ryan,
Sounds like the comment from Ricardo Nunez in Cyrus' Whiteboard Friday on Google's Negative Ranking Factors in July this year, but I don't think Ricardo has written for Youmoz.

I really appreciate the idea Sha but no, that's not it either

It definitely is not a comment, but either a YouMoz post or a YouMoz post which was promoted to the blog.

Hi RyanWas me I think.Β It wasn't an article, but a comment on another post or in QA. I had a look but can't find it eitherBasically,Β I used Spin2submit before and after Panda and saw the massive difference. OSE found only 5 links pointing back, and only 1 of those was followedCheersStephen

I spent many hours first going through blog articles then youmoz articles searching every "directory" related post for years and was unable to find the right article. Memory can be funny. My recollection is it was on this site and it was related to a link directory, but either my memory is faulty or I have missed it. Either way that does appear to be the reply Stephen was referring to which is a really nice find.
I thank everyone for their help.
