      Hi

I have my primary product page https://www.planacademy.com/primavera-p6-training/ - that ranks well for  and is optimized for "primavera p6 training".

However, I'd the same page to rank well "primavera p6 online course".

Do I create another version of this page optimized for these different keywords? Or do I try to get the 1 page to rank for both?

A bit confused here as to what to do.

      Thanks.

This is a tough one, I have been in the same industry before (education) and in some cases, Google will see the word training the same as the word course. So I'd start with trying to find out what the overlap is with your competitors in ranking for these keywords. If the same sites/pages are ranking then you don't need to create another page and probably can optimize the current one to address the issues. If that's not the case then I would clearly look into creating a second page, but as the keywords are so aligned I would do my best to create a truly unique page instead of just replacing training with course.

            Planner Guy,

Martijn has experience in this area directly and gives solid advice. I would just add that I always approach this by asking what the possible intents are. In this case, the "intent" of someone looking for "training" could be to get in-house training, like someone to come out and teach a team. It could be on-site training, like a school or workshop they can attend. Someone searching for "online course" can only be looking for one thing. Thus, I think having two pages is appropriate here. Maybe the "training" page could at some point discuss the benefits of taking an "online course" (insert link) over in-house or on-site training.

In terms of intent, I originally targeted "training" to compete with competitors - they were doing only classroom training and we were trying to sway customers over to online training which we do.

But it's been a few years now and searchers are looking more for "online courses", which we get found for, but not positioned as well as we could be.

I'll consider putting together a separate page targeting "online course" and use your advice for linking to it from a reworked training page.

              Thanks.
