Site Migration
-
Hi,
I have been researching the best way to migrate six sites into one, since I have never done it, and I am frankly overwhelmed. Some resources say to do it incrementally, and a/b test; but I would prefer not to have to do it, as won't it present a disjointed representation for visitors? The previous sites are older and a bit clumsy compared to the new design and functionality in the new site. Can someone please tell me the right way to approach this? Or tell me the best resource for a step-by-step prep, migrate, and watch process? Thanks so much in advance!

Depending on the following questions, the answer might be very simple or very complicated. I don't think there is a 1 size fits all answer. Some details would help:
- How big are the old sites?
- Are they all same/similar topic?
- Why are you merging them?
- Is it fair to say that Content from Site1+Site2+Site3+Site4+Site5+Site6=New Site?
- Are there any duplicate content issues between the sites that you are merging?

Hello and thanks for your help. Old sites are different locations of the same company-each is between 5-20 pages each. We are merging them because we feel the user is better served by having one site with multiple locations in one central spot. We are updating all of the content-for almost every page.
Thanks!
