Google My Business Question
-
I work for a large organization with a number of locations. There is a Google My Business listing for us, under our umbrella name, that lists an old address (building we no longer occupy) and says that we are "permanently closed".
I believe this is an unverified listing because there is an "own this listing?" link in it.
In order to take control of the listing, Google gives us three options: call, text or snail mail. The number is an automated line so calling and texting aren't going to work and snail mail wouldn't work b/c we're no longer in the building.
Anyone know how we can take control of this listing so that it doesn't look like we're "permanently closed?"

Create a new listing. If it is not verified there should not be a name associated with it. Create the listing and go through the verification process. This should give you control.

Hi, I contacted Google about not receiving the pin after multiple attempts and they gave me an option to send photos of the place showing the sign and entry. Once you have verified this old address, you have to change the address to your current address and verify one more time.
If you absolutely can't verify the old address, there's also the option of creating a new Google My Business for your current location. Once that's verified, contact Google about merging the two businesses.
Here's also a post from Moz about dealing with duplicate locations - https://moz.com/blog/delete-gmb-listing
and from Google My Business help - https://support.google.com/business/answer/7005371?hl=en
Hope this helps.
