Automated website forms question

Hi all,

A bit of an unusual request, but wondering if anyone would know how to accomplish the following with Wordpress website and/or other tools.

We have a form on our site that users fill out and we're wanting to automatically generate an email to those users that consists of a contract.

The contract will need to automatically pull information from the form they submitted.

Anyone know of a way to do this?

Yes I think this would be an easy programming job, or maybe there's a plugin that can do this. I' not sure off the top of my head, but I'll see if any other Moz folks have any suggestions.

I just sent this to one of our developers. His response:

"It doesn't sound too difficult. What kind of contract / data are we going to need to send? Do you have a sample? Also, what format does the contract need to be in? PDF?"

We've talked through this process with 1-2 clients in the past and here's what we came up with:

1. Use GravityForms for the form itself. It has the best interface and setup of the various Wordpress form plugins I've used in the past 10+ years.

2. Connect GravityForms to Zapier. This is the simplest way to get the data out of Wordpress in a programmatic way, and Zapier connects to a number of other solutions where the contract will actually be generated.

3. Choose a Contract software solution that connects to Zapier. There are probably a few which you can see at https://zapier.com/zapbook/. Cudasign, Hellosign, and RightSignature all appear to be options. Signaturit is in beta, and Docusign (my personal app of choice) and Echosign are "coming soon." It looks like Cudasign has an option for "Create Document From Template & Send Role-based Invite." This is probably the action that you'd want to use in order to generate a new document and fill in various data points.

There will be lots of little quirks to test before you can deploy this for actual customers, but that overview of the process should get you started. Good luck!

One other thing I wanted to add:

I'm not quite sure what level of code your dev team is capable of, but here is an example of a solution we could implement. This auto-populates the PDF with the form data they have submitted.
