Redirect to a new domain and seo effects
-
I created a one page blogger with listing of several affiliated websites. It gained some visibility on google but it was very plain so i decided to create a wordpress more complex and fancy and to reach the top of search positions.
At the moment i decided to keep the listing on blogger and add some links on the page saying "i've moved to a new website. click for more info" and it redirects to my page.
But i dont get many clicks to my new site so i was thinking to maybe create a full redirect from my blogger to my wordpress or a iframe to fetch the wordpress but im afraid it may hurt my seo on my blogger. what should i do? thanks in advance

Hi there,
If you plan to move over to WordPress then I would recommend using using a 301 redirect and migrating your site completely. I wouldn't recommend trying to maintain both your Blogger and WordPress sites if they serve the exact same purpose - choose one to host all your content and redirect the other one to it (using a 301 not a 302).
Also, any content you put in an iFrame won't be indexed so you wouldn't be receiving SEO benefit from that content on your Blogger site.
Hope this helps!

Thanks for your reply.
But i get a lot of traffic on my blogger. If i simply redirect won't it damage my blogger serp?
I need the blogger to be on top searches while i'm ranking up slowly my wordpress

If a 301 redirect is implemented correctly, your new WordPress site should more or less replace your old Blogger site in the SERPs - although it might take a couple weeks. Therefore, the traffic that goes to your Blogger site would now flow to your WordPress site.

i did read some articles about migration and how you should redirect the pages to new ones but on my case the blogger has only one page with affiliate sites listed while the wordpress one has one page for the listing and several pages with articles.
Sorry about all this questions. Never migrated before, i'm just afraid to lose my blogger visibility on google when doing this.

No worries. In the case of redirecting from one page to multiple pages, I would recommend redirecting your Blogger site to the most relevant page on your new WordPress site - which will likely be your homepage.
That being said, make sure you have good reasons for moving over to WordPress in the first place.
