301 redirect homepage question

Hi

If i have a homepage which is available at both www.homepage.com and www.homepage.com// should i 301 the // version to the first version.

Im curious as to whether slashes are taking into consideration

I don't think so. I'm saying because I have checked for few websites run by best SEO's in the world even Google itself is not redirecting after putting one extra forward slash . Moz is also not redirecting after putting extra forward slash.

As far as I know site.com and site.com/ are two different pages of the same domain for google. That's why one of the very first thing in any to-do list when setting up a new website is to configure url rewrite to secure only one version is served and the other is redirected.
