What are the best initial things to do for an offsite strategy?

1. Just completed onsite optimisation

2. Undergoing developing blog content

3. Kicking away with a social media campaign

I'm wondering what are some of the best things to do for offsite optimisation in that first month. Local directory submissions are all I can think of in this initial month of offsite optimisation to develop some good links before its really just all about content creation and promotion.

Other than directory submissions, does anyone have any other suggestions for initial offsite optimisation activities and strategies?
