QR codes, when to use them

When is best to use them and are they really used?

I would assume you want to use the URL variety (QR codes simply hold data and are agnostic to what they hold). I find they work best in static settings (for the end user) where the QR code is used as a hook to draw the user to your website.

• Print magazines (best use)
• Sponsorship ads (i.e. a local ballfield, etc.)
• Brochures
• Mailings

Places to avoid QR codes

• Billboards (if you thought texting and driving was bad...)
• Tattoos (the permanent kind)
• Bumper stickers
