Hi Jo, when did you notice that you stopped ranking?

At a guess, the fact that all your anchor text contains the words "Paid Surveys" in some form or another, with almost all of them that exact phrase; I suspect you've been hit by a Penguin update (or whatever this mysterious update was around the 17th of last month).

Your links themselves don't really seem to be coming from terribly relevant sites and overall it looks a bit spammy.

No easy fix on this one if it's the case, but please provide some more information if you can.

          Hello Barry,

Yes we must  of been hit by Penguin.

What would be the best way to go about getting the ranking back?

          Thanks

As I said, no easy way; you need to change how you get links.

Having a look at your links:

              33.6% are dead
              28.7% are from directories
              13.5% are from link lists

The rest are primarily affiliate sites and a handful of things like profiles, comments, forum posts.

You don't have any editorially given links coming in.

Your site doesn't look bad, most of the content in the blog which is hidden in the footer. I don't think I'm going to blow any minds by suggesting that you look to add more content of the type that people might want to link to.

Don't just write to keywords and spun titles. Create content that people will want to read and share. It doesn't have to be perfectly on topic. Read the SEOmoz blog to get ideas - http://www.seomoz.org/pages/search_results#stq=content&stp=1

Stop seeding the comments on there with crap - http://www.paidsurveys.uk.com/blog/earn-an-extra-income-from-paid-surveys#comment-6 - you're not telling me even half of these are legit. If it's other people spamming your blog then delete the comments. Engage with the people that are actually real.

Get a social campaign going. Seems to me that this is the kind of thing that would do well via word of mouth. Do you have a Facebook Page or Twitter account? Get on Google Plus and set yourself up to be found.

Start an outreach campaign. Make contacts on competition and survey forums. Get people to write about you on their blogs. Find out what they need and give it to them.

No shortcuts coming back from here I'm afraid.

If you want to investigate some things you can do to get rid of the penalty you can start by reading here - [http://www.seomoz.org/pages/search_results#stq=recover penguin&stp=1 ](http://www.seomoz.org/pages/search_results#stq=recover penguin&stp=1 ) No guarantees of course, but might be worth looking to remove links or disavow links at worst.

http://www.seomoz.org/ugc/recovery-from-google-penguin-tips-from-the-trenches is a seomoz article with some good information.

First you need to work out if you are suffering from a penalty and if so which type of penalty as it's not just penguin that can give you a penalty. You most likely need some professional help however if you want to try and pin point exactly when your traffic dropped in your analytics and cross reference it to http://www.seomoz.org/google-algorithm-change you will have an idea which is affecting you (or several)

Then you'll need to take corrective measures and wait until the next update to see if google has lifted the penalty.

ps. You've done a perfect panda below with 4 duplicate replies to Barry's post.

                    Hi Jo,

Simply that your blog is only linked to in a footer link, it's not really integrated in to the site.

Footer links are still an okay form of navigation, though I usually use them for less important pages like privacy or terms and conditions.

Since most of your content is in there I would consider having it in the side or top nav instead.
