      Hello,

I want to use the Buzzstream prospecting profile to analyze a client's content opportunities. It's an ecommerce site, with a few linked to content topics that we've so far found in the information side of the industry. We want to discover content opportunities, build the content, then do outreach and solicit for links.

I'm not sure how to use the prospecting profile for this.

      Any help is appreciated

Hi Bob! Matt from BuzzStream reached out to me and asked me to post this for him:

        Hi Bob,
Matt from BuzzStream here.  The prospecting tool can be a little
bit tricky the first time you use it - let me see if I can help.

The prospecting tool looks for link opportunities based on link
building queries.  For an ecommerce site, you'd want to look for
product review opportunities, blogs that accepts guest posts,
        and product review opportunities.

For guest posts related to your industry, you probably want to
        look for something like:
        [MDKW] "write for us"
        [MDKW] inurl:category/guest

(MDKW is a market defining keyword, as defined here -
        http://dejanseo.com.au/market-defining-keywords/)

For product reviews, you'll want to use searches like:
        [product name] intitle: Review

These product reviews are particularly excellent for ecommerce
sites, because they both a) link to deep pages, and b) can drive
        traffic that converts.

If I were running an ecommerce site, I'd also look for links page
to do some broken link building, with queries like:
        [MDKW] links
        [MDKW] Resources

Russ Jones wrote a comprehensive post on broken link building here
        on the SEOmoz blog -
        http://www.seomoz.org/blog/the-broken-link-building-bible

We at BuzzStream also put together a blog post and a video about
        how to use them:

Hope this helps - feel free to email me at matt (at) buzzstream
        dot com with more questions.

        Thanks
        Matt
