      hi,

I hope some of you might be able to give me a few pointers here. A friend of mine has started a web hosting company in the UK. Not an affiliate but actually owns a data centre, Now he has a great deal of experience in running hosting in other countries but all his work came from large corporate companies and not from the net.

The UK hosting he wants to promote from online sales as well. Now I know his site needs considerable work (http://www.cloudwebsters.co.uk) but I want to be able to give him some advice on the best ways to get started promoting his site.

Obviously content is a key to success, but not sure how he can incorporate lots of content into the site as it is effectively e-commerce.

Looking at sites such as UK2.net they have a lot of pages on the site but they are all minimal content. such as http://www.uk2.net/glossary/moreuk2/ which only has a couple of sentences on them. Is this really the way to go for the site, my feeling is no as it does not offer any real quality but your opinions are appreciated.

      Thanks

      Jenson

Well, UK2.net does have a LOT of links, so there is that....

Also, if the competition is doing well without much content I would think that having as much relevant content as possible (which would presumably be more than the competition) would give your friend a leg up, right?  I mean the competition is doing well without it because it appears no one in that particular industry really uses much content and if no one is using it than its worth is moot.  I would tell your friend to use as much RELEVANT content as possible - I would certainly tell him to utilize schema.org formatting everywhere possible and start a good, on-going link building campaign.
