I have encountered this weird problem about duplicate page content. My site got 3 duplicate content similar on the link structure below. If I'm going to use rel canonical does it help to resolve the duplication problem? Thanks

      http://www.sample.com/index.php

        Matt-

Redirects or rel canonical can solve the issue. pick one url and stick withj it. Ideaaly you would choose the one that has the highest SEO/link juice value today. redirect the others to that one.

Hope this helps. If it does, please give me the thumbs up!! Thanks

We have also seen this problem and it can be fixed using a canonical link, as outlined in this post by seomoz

So the basis on which URL that I'm going to use will be the authority of the page right? The higher page authority the better.

Just a follow-up question, my site is built from the scratch so I have to insert the rel canonical manually, the normal canonical URL that I have noticed is http://ww.sample.com/ does it really needed that every canonical URL will have a slash (/) symbol at the end? Thanks

it is always better to internally link to the version with the backslash at the end. As this is where it gets redirected to anyway.
