On my blog posts, I have links to all the categories and months, dating back 5-6 years. This make the number of links on each blog page well over 100, which I understand might decrease the value of each page. Is there a problem with having more than 100 links on a page?

Google said at one of the meetings this year that keeping the links under 100 is no longer important.

Is there a problem with having more than 100 links on a page?

The 100 links per page threshold itself isn't a concern in and of itself. As Julie shared, it is an old standard and Google and other search engines are capable of crawling hundreds of links per page.

The more links you offer, the more diluted each link becomes. What if you have a great article that you want to tell the world about, and then a below average article. You provide a link to both articles from the same page. Each article will receive the same amount of link juice.

You may want to consider offering your older links by years instead of months. A user can click on the year and can be taken to the "2008 archive" page which then would offer links to all the months. It's up to you to determine what is best for your users and your site. By providing links with your current method, you are probably diluting your recent articles at the expense of old articles which users are less interesting in reading. Then again, perhaps your old articles are popular. Again, this decision is something you would want to evaluate based on how often your users are using the older links.
