Best WordPress shopping cart?
-
Hey folks, quick question for WordPress lovers. I'm making my first e-commerce WordPress website. I've been looking through the shopping cart plugins and there are a ton to choose from. I don't want a solution that is going to give me URL's like &cat=000xh7&desc=4747fhfh because of the obvious SEO un-friendliness.
What is the best WordPress shopping cart plugin for an e-commerce site that will keep things SEO friendly and be easy enough to use? Any suggestions?

You should check out Shopp.
It's a very robust Wordpress shopping cart and it was built with SEO in mind. A quick look at their demo website shows that the URL for a given product is indeed search optimized. The plugin is $55, but it looks like it could be what you're looking for. More importantly, it is actively under development, has an abundance of extras that you can purchase (payment gateways, shipping options, etc.), and has a pretty active community that frequently develops free plugins that work with Shopp.

Cool I will look into that one. Do you know if any of the free plugins are comparable or are they mostly a waste of time?

I've heard very good things about WP E-Commerce, but I haven't used it myself. I did find this nifty SEO guide for that platform, and because WP E-Commerce puts products on pages, the URLs should follow your permalink structure, but don't take my word on that. I suppose since it is free, you can always test it out yourself if you have a few minutes to play around. Good luck!

The best free one i've found, uses paypal, is Easy PayPal Custom Fields.
Really easy to use and implement, and no hassles for handovers to clients who don't have to much web expertise and need something really easy to use.

There's another plugin you should check out, it's called Cart66 and for me it really did the job. What I like most about the shopping cart is the integration of other plugins like Gravity Forms & Mailchimp.
There's a free version of Cart66 that you can try before you buy.

A very late reply, but just in case anybody else has the same question.... I've been using Tribulants shopping cart. Once you get the kinks worked out it's good. I included SEO tips in my review.
The short version is that it is a well featured cart and it's very cheap.
