Should I setup separate campaigns for my website and blog?
-
Both the website and blog are hosted on the same domain, just wondering if I should setup separate campaigns under SEOmoz for each? If so, why would this be helpful?
-
Derek,
From a quick look at both, it appears the only page difference is the one with /blog. Personally, I would not see a reason to run separate campaigns on them. I would prefer to save the others for something that will provide you more actionable data.
You can always use the other tools to check the blog: Rank tracker, on page optimizer, etc. -
Do you know if when I look at keyword rankings for Tatango.com, that also brings up keyword ranking for tatango.com/(anything), or is it displaying keyword rankings for just tatango.com and nothing else? Does that make sense?
-
Total sense. When using the keyword ranking tool you can use any url or you can use entire subdomain. If you want to see where tatango.com ranks for sms advertising and only want to see it as the home page/landing page, put exact url. If you want to see how the site performs based on that same search term use entire subdomain.
On that term sms advertising, the home page is position 20 on Google. If you use /blog you do not rank. But, if you use /blog and click on check entire subdomain, it will again show the position 20.
When checking specific urls (pages) we always use specific url and the terms we have optimized for.
Hope this helps.

When using the Keyword Ranking Tool, where do I select "check entire subdomain"?
-
Under where you put your url it says: Exact url or check entire subdomain
So, assuming you are optimizing pages, put in the exact url: http://www.tatango.com/company
If you want to check where you rank for sms advertising on the whole, use the subdomain www.tatango.com
