Google API's
-
As you may know Google has API’s http://code.google.com/more/ I can see ones for Blogs, News etc. but not for general search am I being dense?
If someone can point me in the right direction that would be great.

Moved over to: http://code.google.com/apis/customsearch/v1/overview.html
If you can't find an example that helps let me know.

I assume you're looking for one that would query their SERPs?
No longer exists
The old SOAP API doesn't allow you to sign up and there's nothing to replace it.I looked for the same thing recently and was a bit disappointed there was nothing.

Thanks Steve,
Thats an interesting link.
Unfortunately its too limited for my needs (in that you have to select from certain sites), am trying to query all of the SERPS and/or specific sites as defined by the user without annoying Google.
I don't want to scrape a ‘normal’ search and as far as I can see even if I get a normal search to open automatically in a browser this still seems to be against Google's T&C's.
Any ideas?

Well, I certainly wouldn't recommend you set up seo-proxies or get into any sort of google-scraper.squabbel ¬_¬

Try this: http://www.stevenferrino.com/scripts/google-api-search.php
And would someone please tell me how to add links that open, like Barry's Soap example

Use the WYSIWIG.
Highlight the anchor text, click the link button, drop the URI, hit insert

No not going to do that don't worry.
