Hey,

If you create the scrollbar with HTML/CSS there should be no problem with the search engines seeing your text - it's HTML after all.

I don't really like scroll boxes though - they look a bit dated to me (depending how you use them). How about creating 3 columns under your image and having text looking more like a 'magazine feel' with a couple of subtle headlines.

I think the general rule is, if you can read it in the "view source" then google can read it.

But I agree with Damien scrollbars remind me of 90s web design ( remember the <marquee>tag_)_</marquee>
