Can anyone recommend a company / agency who provide a specialist solution for on site search?

I have a client who is using Google Site Search and is not too happy with the performance of it,

I have a friend in the UK who has used FACT-finder with lots of success. My friend is part of an e-commerce group, but I believe FACT-finder can help with any platform. This is their URL http://www.fact-finder.com/

There's a site called Nextopia that offers this service for a decent price.  They've worked very well in the past and you don't have to deal with the hassle of Google ads or the insane price tag that goes along with it!

Several years ago we switched from Google search to Pico Search, the paid version. I also added domain masking, one time fee, for the search results to show as search.yourdomain.com. It is customizable to add your own search button, make the search results page match the rest of your site, add tweaks to the searches and so on. Their tech support has been excellent reaching a live person on the phone who answered my questions quickly, but I've only used it 2-3 times.
