Sneaky Page Title?

Hi Mozzers,

I am a newbie, for sure. But I have been able to figure out how to help my customer very well; with the help of SEOMOZ of course.

Here is the question:

My customer (ZR) has a competitor and they use the phrase ZR.com in the title of one of their high ranked pages. Please see the enclosed graphic for the complete story.

I would love to know if it is even legal (a pro would know)

Seems like a pretty smart move on their behalf to steal brand traffic and I am sure there are countless cases of this happening.

As far as being illegal I would say this is not the case. From my understanding of what you have said they do actually sell the products which your client supplies to them on a wholesale basis, if they didn't sell the products for which they have used your brand term to steal traffic it may be a different case although I am still not sure it would be worth pursuing.

P.S. I am not an expert in this, just giving my opinion

If a reseller of products from ABC Ltd is saying that they are selling products from ABC Ltd then then would be telling the truth.

If they try to make it look like they are ABC Ltd or make it look like their site is ABC Ltd's site then they may be crossing boundaries.

Don't think that Google are likely to pick up on this sort of thing at this level and the local trading standards or equivalent would probably be the best course of action if ABC Ltd feel agrieved.
