I just added a a blog on my website. Should I wait for Google to find it or should I send a new sitemap in the Search Console?

If your website's sitemap have your blog's link, simply update your sitemap and ping from here - http://www.google.com/ping?sitemap=https://www.yourdomain.com/sitemap.xml.  And if your website's sitemap don't have your blog's link, create new sitemap and submit sitemap in GSC. After that ping from here - http://www.google.com/ping?sitemap=https://www.yourdomain.com/blog/sitemap.xml

          Hi MP33,

If you have access to the Google Search Console property, then its recommended to tell Google that you've updated the sitemap file.
Also, there is no harm in updating sitemaps often. I wound't recommend you to update it several times a day. But once or twice a day is completely fine.

Probably this official document might be helpful:
Learn about sitemaps - Search Console Help

          Hope it helps.
          Best luck.

These are good answers, however if your site has a blog and other content which frequently changes (e.g: you are an eCommerce site and you have hundreds of products that go up and down every day) - there is no point re-submitting your product sitemap(s) every 15mins when one product changes. Let Google just digest that stuff naturally

For your posts sitemap (which should be separate and linked in your sitemap index), if you only post once or twice a week - but the posts are high quality and in-depth, then yes - re-submit your post sitemap as needed
