      Hi

I am new Moz user, and am still getting up to speed. We built a new website as part of a rebranding at the start of the year and it is taking a while for our site to be seen. We chose Squarespace due to ease of adding photos and the general appearance of the site. However, our first Moz campaign came back with this:

Error Code 804: HTTPS (SSL) Error Encountered

Your page required an SSL security certificate to load (using HTTPS), and we encountered an error when trying to load the certificate. It is possible that other browsers and crawlers are also encountering this error. If this error is found on any page of your site, it prevents our crawler (and some search engines) from crawling the rest of your site. Typically errors like this should be investigated and fixed by the site webmaster.

Squarespace basically said this is a Moz issue.

Can anyone advise what to do and how to correct this?
      Our site is https://www.samandstevephotography.com

      Thanks

Hey there! Tawny from Moz's Help Team here.

Oh gosh, I think I have to be the bearer of bad news here; our tools aren't going to be able to crawl this site. Unfortunately at this time our crawler isn't compatible with Server Name Indication (SNI), which appears to be in use on your site. In general, SNI is a totally acceptable security configuration, but our crawler simply isn't equipped to be able to handle these settings.

The good news is that our team has been working hard on a new crawler that will support this configuration and this crawler is currently in its Beta phase. The bad news is that this beta crawler has been blocked by SquareSpace, so it won't be able to crawl SquareSpace sites.

I'm afraid that means we don't have a good solution for this site. If you were to use our primary crawler, you'd continue to get these 804 errors related to SNI compatibility. If you were to use the beta crawler, you'd be blocked with a 403 forbidden error from SquareSpace. 😞

I'm sad to say that we don't have a solution for crawling your site at this time. I'm really sorry about that! We totally understand if that means that you need to cancel and look for other tools to better fit your needs.

If there's anything else we can do to help you out, feel free to drop us a line at help@moz.com and we'll do our best to sort things out for you.
