Menus and Internal Link Volume Guidelines
-
Hi guys. I am currently working on a site with a large menu structure. In the navigation there are lots of submenus amounting to over 100 links in total.
When i have been auditing the site i am getting the notification to keep internal links below 100 - but the everything on there i do need - have trimmed down as much as possible but its all very necessary and logical for the end user.
Is this 100 internal link guideline something to be concerned about in this situation? If so is there any way to accommodate a larger menu structure whilst still appeasing these guidelines.
Any help is much appreciated, thank you

Hey,
This 100 links rule is something to keep a good user experience. I don´t know what´s up in your situation, but 100 links in only one page may sound confusing.
That layout may affect your time on page, bounce rate, etc. Knowing this, pages with so many links might have a bad impact on those metrics and look spammy.

I wouldn't be too concerned Google themselves recently said in their webmaster guidelines
"Limit the number of links on a page to a reasonable number (a few thousand at most)."
Think of it more from a UX perspective, if its good for the user keep it!
