      Hi

I have found a lot of links from a majestic report (not found on moz open site explorer).  inwhich I have found lots of links from 2010 and possibly earlier which either I can't get hold of the webmaster.  Is a disavow the right way to go if I can't get them removed myself?

Also I have noticed that there are a lot of free directories listing new pages from our site and I am concerned Google are going to find these.  I surpose there is nothing I can do about this, does anyone have any recommendations.

If you believe they are genuinely hindering your site then yes I would suggest disavowing the links where possible. Starting with those that are particularly spammy. Rather than doing a huge batch do a few at a time and measure the impact where possible.

Secondly, also mention within the #hashed comments in your disavow file, that you have tried to get in touch with the problems site administrators but have had no response. Google would like to see that you have tried to get in touch first to resolve the issue before jumping in to disavow.

        Hope that's of some use.

        Cheers

        Tim

          Hi

I have got to agree with Tim - get rid of them if you believe they are doing harm to your site.

I would try and make contact with the site owners but at the same time upload your disavow file and get this sorted.

Not sure how familiar you are with disavow files, but make sure you update your most recent file and upload and don't just upload a list of the new urls.

          Thanks

          Andy

            Hi,

IMO you should follow steps mentioned in below article to find all low quality backlinks then first try to remove manually if not possible then you can disavow.

            Hope this helps.
