I am very new to this site and need some help.  I have two spammy backlinks in my report that were done by my host provider as I hired them for SEO.  When I click on the web site there is no where to contact them.  I can only subscribe to their group and I sure don't want to do that.  Is having two ranking as an 8+ awful.  I don't know if I should do the Disavow route or not.

I would definitely disavow. It isn't going to hurt you to disavow these links and you might as well get started at building a healthy, regularly updated disavow file. Unfortunately, this is a part of modern day-to-day SEO.

Have you reached out to the hosting provider to have the links removed?

I agree with Russ here and there are two important reasons for this

          1. You don’t have any place from where you can contact the webmaster
          2. Disavow will tell Google that you don’t need a link juice from these websites and disavowing them (as Russ said) isn’t going to hurt your rankings in anyway.

          Hope this helps!

Just to check, are the links nofollowed or followed? If they are nofollowed, don't worry about it - you won't need to disavow.

As already pointed out, there is no harm going to come from disavowing them, but if you do, make sure you disavow from a domain level rather than just a page. This will ensure that no more links can sneak in from that domain in the future.

            -Andy

How do I know if they are followed or nofollowed?  I really don't know much about the whole disavowing process except what I've read from the links through Moz.  I also haven't contacted the host company since they're the ones that put it there I am a little concerned with having them take it off but I guess it's worth a try?
