      Hi,

We have two websites www.eurekasolutions.co.uk and www.eurekaaddons.co.uk - currently the eurekasolutions site has eureka addon products on it - we are thinking of re-directing these to www.eurekaaddons.co.uk instead (there are 100+ pages which are being ranked and picked up by google) Would it be foolish to re-direct these from eurekasolutions straight to eurekaaddons after them being on eurekasolutions for many many years?

if so what is the best way to go about it and would this have a direct negative effect on our SEO? Both sites are serving for similar terms.

      Thanks,

The first thing that occurs to me is if they are serving for similar terms anyway, would it make sense to combine the sites? Or is there some business reason you cannot? A combined site would be easier to maintain and would be stronger (more links, content, traffic, etc.), which could help ranking overall.

Hi Linda - thanks for your response.

At the moment we have both products across both sites but we are wondering if we were to re-direct the eurekasolutions pages to the addons site how this may impact things technically such as visitors, rankings, etc.? Separating these will allow the sites to focus more on their core areas.

I understand your concern--sometimes you don't want to mess with things that are working. But if it is clear to you that the sites need to be separate, then they need to be separate.

When you make a change like this, you will most likely see an impact on search, as Google tries to figure out what is what. Ultimately, the pages will do best on the site that is the most relevant.
