      Hello all,

I've got a few quick questions about optimization for Google Image search. Would be great if someone could help me out with these.

Is it possible to track and seperate visitors that reach my website through the images presented in the SERP's?

Should we avoid changing high ranking pictures on important keywords?

If we need to change the pictures what would the best strategy be?

Replace the original filename and alt tag of the picture?

Keep the orignal pictures but change the location of the pictures to a new post on our website?

      Thanks in advance!

        Hi there

Yes it is possible to track images on their own through the application of filters here is a great article for you as it's a process http://www.blindfiveyearold.com/tracking-image-search-in-google-analytics. If your changing pictures, then retain your existing strategy, but remember a picture speaks a thoushand words as they say.

        Have fun hope this helps.

        R

          Hi Erik

If the pictures are relevant to the content, named correctly in their file name, and also have proper alt tags - you're golden, don't worry about it!

If you find over time that the images start to lose their rankings and you need to optimize these images more, I would check out Yoast's post on Optimizing Images for SEO and Google's Image Optimization guide.

Yoast's post will cover basic image optimization fundamentals from a SEO standpoint while Google's guide will help you find optimal settings for your images, like format capabilities, pixel dimensions and so on. This is especially important as screen sizes change and responsive design is more prevalent.

          Hopefully these help! Good luck!
