Why is this url redirecting to our site?
-
I was doing an audit on our site and searching for duplicate content using some different terms from each of our pages. I came across the following result:
www.sswug.org/url/32639 redirects to our website. Is that normal? There are hundreds of these url's in google all with the exact same description. I thought it was odd. Any ideas and what is the consequence of this?
-
It doesn't seem normal. Have you done a whois lookup on the domain? May be worth contacting the domain owner, because it could all be a horrible mistake on their part.
I don't really know what to suggest you do beyond this though... I'd be interested to know what other people say.

Their domain was brought up to me yesterday as we used them in the past for some marketing or we were considering it. I'm not 100% sure. I also found this site: http://www.phoenixhollo.com/fr/SQL_10.html which opens a copy of our site then opens a pop up to an ad once you click anywhere. This also seems really sketchy.
-
One last thing to add. There are many sites using some of our content as meta descriptions (or google is) that are totally irrelevant.
-
Sounds like you could file a DMCA on the copied site.
Not sure what to say about the dodgy 301s though. Sorry, I wish I could help more

-
Is that a free thing you can do? I wish I knew what to do about these other links. It's just tons of duplicate meta descriptions and it looks very spammiy.
-
I'd contact the owner of www.sswug.org about the 301 redirect as this may be something that was set up in error if you had been in talks with them.
The http://www.phoenixhollo.com site is displaying a copy of your site in an iFrame so I don't think this is anything to worry about ie. no duplicate content issue. See here for more info:

Would the 301's from sswug be a concern? I'm more concerned about the phoenixhollo site just leading people to bad ads and looking spammy with our name attached to it.
-
Here is another example of content taken from our site and being used on some spammy website: http://editionsmicrobuss.com/wiki/sql-server-performance-monitor-sql-sentry-software.html
What is the point of someone doing this and is there any point to having it taken down? This is our exact content taken from our website and also some of our competitors content.
-
I don't think it is anything to be too concerned about.
To be on the safe side you could block traffic coming from that referrer:

DMCA is free, yes.
