Hi guys, for example i run a coupon site and would like to rank for the brand keyword ASOS, should i just rank for the long tail keywords for example "ASOS discount code" instead of just "ASOS"?

even the traffic for ASOS itself is MUCH higher than ASOS discount code? And the relevancy of ranking at "ASOS" is fine too because is somehow relevant?

would ranking long tail helps with one tail keyword too? And assuming that i am already on the second page for the keyword "ASOS" and knowing is not hard to be page one. should i just rank the one keyword?

I wouldn't build backlinks to just one set anchor term, this isn't good in modern SEO as it doesn't look natural. That said, yes you should try and focus on the long tail as you will almost certainly rank easier and building back links to your pages will still have a positive effect on ranking for other terms.

Use a range of anchor terms and a mix of follow/nofollow.

As a side note, I'd say you're much more likely to get clicks onto your website for the long tail term too as people will actually be looking for discount codes rather than the ASOS website.

Ok I have worked on a coupon website so I have a clear idea of how to go with keywords and what kind of results you should expect for each keyword.

For the head keyword like ASOS, you might get lot of traffic but not every user will be finding discount codes so you might see a high bounce rate for this keyword. The better idea is to for keyword that does contain words like “discount” or “promo codes” then the conversion rate would be much better.

My advice would be to go for two words keywords and long tail keywords, they might contain a less traffic but the conversion rate would be much more powerful.

          Hope this helps!
